We want to:
- Feel more
- Be more
- Do more
- Have more
- Say more
Then as we’re rounding the corner of “more” we stumble into the should’s, too’s & STOP’s. AKA the Shame Trifecta.
Most of my clients (and myself included) desire to feel one or more of the following:
- Present
- Powerful
- Loved
And, when life isn’t going the way we planned, we’re more likely to feel one (or all) of the following:
- Stuck
- Stagnant
- Confused
- Worried
- Stressed
- Afraid
- Sorry (Often for things we don’t need to apologize for.)
For the next few weeks, I want to explore closing the gap, inch by inch, from where we are now to where we want to be. The gap is the space between knowing and doing. Knowing what we want, how we feel, and then doing the next right thing.
The knowing will look like one or all of the following:
- Stories from my life
- Stories from my own therapy
- Stories from my work as a licensed therapist (all identifying client info will be changed)
- Some questions and answers
- Some questions that have no answers
The doing will, on occasion, be:
- Some actual advice
Other places to close the gap:
- The latest episode of Don’t Cut Your Own Bangs can be found on Apple Podcast and Spotify
- Ep. 111 Three Myths About Therapy
- Ep. 110 Are you being too hard on yourself
- A 7 part guided journal to help you deepen your relationship with the most important relationship in your life – the one between you and you.
