I’m getting oversaturated with advice. Specifically, advice that’s telling me something to do without giving me the context. I want the bullet points and hot takes for sure. But what helps me trust the advice is feeling connected to the other person’s story, seeing my own struggle reflected back to me. This is big part of what led me to start my podcast Don’t Cut Your Own Bangs. I wanted to know what happened between the before and after story. Because when I’m in my messy middle, and struggling to find my place I want to know what somebody did THEN.
I have also done the very thing that I’m annoyed by. Ha! I’ve written hot takes and pieces of advice without offering up any of my own experiences and vulnerability. I want to find the sweet spot between giving content that’s meaningful to you AND sharing how it was learned or applied in my actual life. My hope is we can find this balance together.
Who am I?
Chances are, you already know. But, for those of you who are new here, “Hi!” My name is Danielle. I work as a therapist. I’ve been seeing clients virtually for about 3yrs. I have two kids under the age of 4yrs. I’ve been married for 10yrs, and as I’m writing this bio I’m equal parts feeling proud of how mature my life seems, juxtaposed with how out of body it is to see that this is my actual life… #fulltimeadulting. I have a background in the arts as a dancer and actor. I’ve envied people who seemed to have a clear direction of who they wanted to be and what they wanted to do. That wasn’t the case for me, and I spent the majority of my waking hours in my teens and twenties trying to figure it out. Around the time I met my now husband (Hi, David!), things started to get clearer. And one sweaty, stumbling step at a time I pieced things together to build a life I love.

What to expect:
- These emails will be in your inbox once or twice a month
- You’ll be able to read them in 5 minutes
- They’ll offer insights from my therapy practice, within the context of my lived experience
- They won’t be overly prescriptive
- They’ll likely raise more questions than give answers
Take what you like. Leave the rest behind. I’m so glad you’re here. More to come:)
